After having to deal with this issue since the beginning of CS2, Valve finally decided to fix the annoying jump inconsistency problems. The jump and jump height consistency has been an issue for a lot of people and even players like Twistzz complained about it before. Fortunately, the changes finally arrived.
The update
After tons of complaints over the years, Valve finally decided to address the CS2 movement issue in an update from a few days ago. Speaking of the devil, here’s what is new:
- Consistent Jump Height: Jump height is now more predictable, regardless of the player’s position on the map. Previously, jump height could vary depending on distance from the map’s origin. This inconsistency has been reduced to a very small margin.
- Reliable Landing: Players are more likely to successfully land on surfaces that are very close to the maximum height of a jump.
- Stamina Influence: Jump height is still affected by the player’s stamina. When using the cl_showpos 2 command, players can see their stamina level at takeoff and a color-coded indicator of their potential jump height.
- Accurate Jump Height Display: The cl_showpos command now displays more accurate jump height information, even when jumping from sloped surfaces.
- Smoother Jump Transitions: Fixed an issue where players were sometimes pulled back down during a jump due to discrepancies between the client and server.
Following these changes, players will have access to a more consistent jumping experience. Previously, missing some jumps could result in making unwanted sounds, which means this issue revealed their positions.
Due to these changes, some people who played on the surfing maps have notified Valve that there was an issue. As a result, the company decided to add a new sv_jump_precision_enable command that allows surfing fans to remove the latest changes if they want.
