What is the Black Rose in League of Legends?
In case you are not aware, the Black Rose is a special secret society that has members from Noxus. This is the nation where Mel and Ambessa come from.
Normally, Noxus is known for its aggression, but the Black Rose does not work like that. Instead, this society uses magic and statecraft.
The lore is very interesting because there was a powerful necromancer called Mordekaiser. He was strong, but thanks to the efforts of Vladimir and LeBlanc, the powerful enemy was slain.
Following that moment, Black Rose had a big impact on many other League of Legends champions. One of them is Swain, the champion who organized a coup and became the Grand General.
After that move, Swain and LeBlanc became rivals, but the two never really went into a head-to-head conflict.
Black Rose in Arcane – Who Is It?
From what we know, the Black Rose in Arcane is a part of a smaller story. According ot the lore, Keno (who happens to be Mel’s brother) decided to cross the faction during the ongoing LeBlanc and Swain conflict. Ambessa (the mother of Mel and Keno) tells Mel that her brother actually died because of the Black Rose. This is also the reason why Ambessa decided to go to Piltover.
If you want to actually see the Black Rose in League of Legends, you need to wait for Season 2, Episode 3. This is when a member of the Pltovan merchant guild reveals herself in an attempt to kill Ambessa. Fortunately, Ambessa and her bodyguard manage to deal with the assassin.
Following the failed attempt, the Black Rose decided to capture Mel and her assistant Elora and transfer them to another realm. As expected, Mei was in prison and had strange hallucinations involving her brother, who was also in the same prison.
The Matron of the Black Rose – Who’s LeBlanc
In the current League of Legends lore, LeBlanc is the leader of the Black Rose. This character focuses on illusion, allowing her to create clones of herself.
If you have played with LeBlanc in LoL, you know that the hero can ensnare enemies with her chains. This is probably one of the reasons why there are thorny bindings throughout Arcane Season 2.
